The Making of a Young Historian

Mason Thomas’ love of history began at just five years old, the moment he first heard the story of the Titanic. What started as a childhood fascination quickly grew into a passion for understanding the people, decisions, and moments that shaped the world. That curiosity soon carried Mason across centuries—from the North Atlantic of 1912 to the courts of Tudor England, where he discovered the figure who would define his work: King Henry VIII.

For the past nine years, Mason has devoted himself almost entirely to Henry’s world. Through books, documentaries, museum research, and continuous study of Tudor politics, religion, and family dynamics, Mason has built a level of knowledge and insight far beyond his age. This foundation has made his portrayal of Henry VIII uniquely layered—commanding yet reflective, regal yet human.

Alongside his Tudor work, Mason is also a fan of modern royalty, following contemporary royal families with the same curiosity he applies to the past. This broader interest enriches his understanding of monarchy as a living institution rather than just a historical concept.
